  Spring

 Spray dormant oil to combat over-wintering diseases and insects
      on fruit trees and ornamentals
 Prune back forsythia after blooming
 Remove winter wrap once risk of frosty nights has passed
 Prune ornamentals which bloom in summer or fall, after the danger       of frost has passed
 Plant bare-root trees
  Summer

 Prune evergreens and hedges
 Prune early flowering shrubs
 Treat fruit trees with Tanglefoot to prevent insect pests from
      climbing trunks
 Watch for insect pests, diseases and weeds
 Water newly-planted trees well around their trunks
  Fall

 Water evergreens and trees liberally until freeze-up to prevent       desiccation and scald
 Protect evergreens with burlap to prevent snow damage and      dehydration
 Plant conifers and evergreens while ground is still warm
 Plant new trees and shrubs making sure to stake those which
      are exposed to strong winds
 Gather fallen leaves and compost or destroy if carrying disease
  Winter

 Trees can be planted as long as the ground is workable
 Collect branches and sprays for holiday decorating
 Apply animal repellent to deter deer and rodents, protect trunks of       young trees and shrubs from rabbits and squirrels with wire netting
  Remove heavy snow from evergreens to prevent damage
 Prune deciduous trees and shrubs while they are dormant
