Mark Cullen
is Canada's own garden expert. His love of horticulture
was firmly rooted as he grew up in his family's
business. Now the President of Mark's Choice Ltd, a horticultural communications and marketing company,
Mark enthusiastically shares his knowledge and passion
for gardening. He acts as spokesperson and horticultural consultant for Home Hardware Canada. Mark is also the spokesperson for GolfGreen organic-based fertilizers and lawn seed and Green Earth environmentally friendly garden products.
Mark reaches over one million Canadians every week through various media outlets with a message that is distinctly Canadian. He has a familiar style that people relate to. He delivers a message that is compelling, fun, informative, inspirational - all based on his organic approach to gardening.
Radio: Mark hosts The Garden Show on CFRB
Radio, Canada's most listened to AM radio station, in Toronto. Hi show airs Live, Saturdays 11 am to noon (52 weeks a year).
Television: Mark is the co-host of the Canada AM weekly gardening segment with Jeff Hutcheson, which airs every Friday at 8:40 am EST.
Mark is a best selling author and one of Canada's
most prolific garden writers, with over 400,000 books in print in Canada. His 17th book, released in Spring 2007, is titled 'A Sandbox of a Different Kind' Personal Reflections on the Canadian Gardening Experience. It is available in book stores and Home Hardware.
'Canadian Garden Design', published by Penguin Canada, is a full colour, coffee table edition. It contains 240 pages of ideas and inspirations for your garden.
The original edition of 'A Greener Thumb' was on the best sellers list for 27 weeks. It is the best-selling hard cover gardening book in Canada ever, with over 130,000 in print. 'The New Greener Thumb' now includes three new chapters on 'New Perennials', 'Native Plant Gardening', and 'Low Maintenance Gardening'.
In 2002, Mark produced a gardening book exclusively for Ontario gardeners titled 'Ontario Gardening'.
Mark is a regular contributor to Gardening Life magazine, 6 times per year. He is also a feature writer for Home at Home magazine with a circulation of 400,000.
Mark acts as public spokesperson for the Environmental Farm Plan in cooperation with the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association.
In 1987, Mark was named Garden Communicator of the Year by Landscape Ontario. He was a Quill and Trowel 'Gold' award winner in 1990 for best TV show, from the Garden Writers of America. The City of Scarborough recognized Mark with a Bicentennial Civic Award of Merit in 1996. This was followed by the Financial Post Environmental Achievement award with the Composting Council of Canada in the 'Education' category, 1998. Most recently, Mark received the Canada Day Achievement award for the Toronto Canada Day Committee in 2000.
In 2003, Mark earned the 'Queens Jubilee' medal for his "outstanding contribution to helping to
feed the hungry" through his work with Plant
A Row Grow a Row for the Hungry organization. He was nominated by the Canadian Association of Food Banks and the Composting Council of Canada.
Mark is the Honorary Patron of SHARE Agricultural
Foundation, providing relief to under-privileged

Mark has served at the University of Guelph as 'Entrepreneur in Residence'. He is an active

Mark moved into the 'environmentally friendly' country home of his dreams in 2006. Married to Mary Farintosh. 4 children: Lynn 23, Heather 21, Emma 18, and Ben 15.
In his spare time Mark enjoys driving his Ford Model A - and he loves to garden.
